Sustainability
Sustainable travel is, quite simply, travel that can be sustained in the long run as a result of its having a positive net effect on the local economy of the visited area(s) while being protective of the environment and local socio-cultural institutions. At Katan Adventures, we practice sustainable travel by:
* Using locally-owned hotels, transportation and other tourist infrastructure whenever possible;
* Ensuring all of our activities respect local culture and customs;
* Working with companies that share our commitment to the objectives of sustainable travel;
* Where possible, spending a day on each trip giving back to local communities;
* Limiting the physical impact of our trips on the communities we visit, particularly with respect to the environment;
* Avoiding all activities that exploit animals, whether domestic or wild; and
* Promoting awareness of environmental issues through exposure to the natural world.
In addition, when you book a trip with Katan Adventures all of your carbon emissions from air and ground travel will be automatically offset through our partner, Terrapass. To find out how, click here.
