Overview

This trip begins with a weekend in Buenos Aires where we will be joined by a group of young Argentine Jews who will show us the very best that their amazing city has to offer.  On Monday morning, we will all fly to the beautiful mountain village of Bariloche, described as the Swiss Alps of South America, for some of the best skiing that the southern hemisphere has to offer.  Bariloche also boasts a legendary après ski scene and nightlife.  On Friday, it’s back to Buenos Aires for our final weekend in Argentina.  This trip has it all: a little bit country, a little bit rock n roll.  Don’t miss it!

Highlights

- Buenos Aires with local peers as our guides
- World-class in Skiing….in August!
- Shabbat in Buenos Aires
- Boutique hotel in the Palermo SoHo district
- Apres-Ski in Bariloche

Itinerary

Day 1 – Fly in to Buenos Aires (EZE) this morning and make your way to our beautiful hotel in the Palermo SoHo district, home to art galleries, cafes and bars.  Catch some shut-eye or take a peek around the neighborhood.  Tonight, the entire group, including our friends from Argentina, will meet for an unforgettable Shabbat experience in Buenos Aires.

Day 2- Since it is Shabbat, you are free to explore the city on your own.  There is a ton to see in the Palermo neighborhood, or venture further afield and see why Buenos Aires is described as the most cosmopolitan South American city.  Tonight, after a group dinner, our local hosts will serve as guides to Buenos Aires’ legendary nightlife.

Day 3 -  After breakfast, we will enjoy a tour of the old Jewish quarter of Buenos Aires, Once (On-say).  Once is Buenos Aires’ answer to the Lower East Side (without the hipsters) and it was here, in the early part of the 20th century, that Russian Jews fleeing pogroms settled amongst their brethren from Morocco and Syria.  For lunch, we’ll head to San Telmo, a bohemian enclave known for its street performers.  This afternoon and evening, you are free to explore on your own.

Day 4 – Today we fly to Barilcohe, the stunning mountain town nestled by the side of a gorgeous lake high in the Andes.  We will arrive late afternoon which leaves you time to explore the town before we head out for a group dinner.

Day 5 – Time to ski (or snowboard, if you must).  After getting outfitted first thing in the morning, you will be transported to the mountain for a day of fine South American powder.   Cerro Catedral, the mountain we will be skiing, has been South America’s premier ski destination since 1936.  With over 60 miles of terrain and 40 lifts, there is something to offer skiers and snowboarders of all abilities.  While 60% of the mountain is geared towards the intermediate skier, there are also plenty of back-country opportunities for the rippers out there.  After our first day, we will head to town for some après-ski fun.  B

Day 6 – Ski day number 2.  Repeat the above.  Tonight we will head to a bar in town known for its live music.

Day 7 – Today you can choose to ski or spend the day relaxing in the hot tub.  Bariloche is the most picturesque city in the Andean Lakes district and if you have had enough of skiing it would be easy to spend the day wandering the streets, particularly the central boulevard that runs along the south shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi.  Tonight, dinner is on your own.

Day 8 – So long Bariloche, we hardly knew ye! After breakfast, we will make our way to the airport for the flight back to Buenos Aires.  We will get back to our hotel in late afternoon which will give you time to rest up before our last Shabbat dinner with our Argentine hosts.

Day 9 – Spend Shabbat as you choose, either exploring or resting your bones after a long week of new adventures.  Tonight, we will all gather for our farewell dinner and to say goodbye to our Argentine hosts.

Day 10 – Our time together has come to an end.  Transfer to Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) for your flight back to reality!
