An amazing action-packed trip, come see a country that has yet to be run down by the tourist throngs.  El Salvador has it all:  stunning beaches, thick jungles and active volcanoes.  On this adventure, we will try it all as we get surfing instruction on some of the best breaks, wakeboard on isolated beaches and mountain bike in the jungle.  This trip is truly awesome!

Highlights

  • Beach front accommodations.
  • Expert surf instruction.
  • Wakeboarding at sunset.
  • Fresh fish at seaside restaurants.
  • Exploring remote villages.
  • Mountain biking in El Impossible National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1 – We will pick you up at San Salvador’s Comalapa International Airport and take you on a gorgeous road trip to our beach front accommodation - an attractive hotel set on the edge of a long, white-sand beach. Enjoy a sunset surf session, or max and relax in the swimming pool with a cocktail while enjoying magnificent ocean views. Group dinner and welcome session at a restaurant on the beach.

Day 2 - After a hearty Salvadorian breakfast we’ll head to the beach for our first surf session at the excellent beach break – perfect for beginners or intermediates -  just steps from our front door. For lunch we’ll take a short boat ride to a wonderful restaurant set on the edge of the mangroves and offering a spectacular view of the jungle and volcanoes in the distance. Later in the afternoon you’ll have the chance to raise your adrenaline levels once again as we board our boat for some sunset wakeboarding (those who prefer to can head back to the beach for surfing). Whether you’re totally new to wakeboarding or a relative expert, our instructor will be available to give you tips and advice. Tonight we’ll enjoy a well-earned dinner of pupusas (El Salvador’s most typical food) or fresh fish at a local restaurant.

Day 3 - This morning - more surf instruction. After lunch you’ll have the choice to either practice your wakeboarding skills or to hit the waves again to develop your surfing. We’ll have dinner at one of the local restaurants on the beach.

Day 4 - After another morning surf session, it’s a bumpy ride our next destination: the colorful town of Tacuba. Located on the edge of a jungle-clad volcano in El Impossible National Park, Tacuba is a small, lively and traditional mountain town where you will be welcomed with open arms by the local people. In fact, our lodging in Tacuba is a large home that we will share with its owners, a local family. Here we’ll eat a hearty lunch with our friendly hosts and then spend the afternoon exploring Tacuba’s folkloric atmosphere. Tacuba and the surrounding tropical forest are one of the true gems of El Salvador and offer an unparalleled opportunity to experience the country’s lively culture. After an afternoon of exploring we’ll head back to our accommodation for a home-made dinner with our hosts.

Day 5 - After breakfast we’ll head into the jungle for some mountain biking. Our guide is a former competitive mountain biker so regardless of your mountain biking experience, he’ll provide you with the tips and skills you need to maximize your mountain biking performance. Our morning ride will take us through the spectacular hills and tropical forest of El Imposible National Park; following rarely-used trails we’ll pass through jungle, coffee plantations and forests of bamboo. The 3800-hectare national park was established in March, 1989, and is recognized as a gem of biodiversity and culture. After an exhilarating ride we’ll break for lunch at a local restaurant before returning “home” for a well earned siesta. In the afternoon we’ve got a date with thousands of parakeets! We’ll head to a local Ceiba tree that has earned the name “Parakeet Tree” due to the fact that every afternoon thousands of parrots descend to roost on its branches. Tonight we’ll get the chance to taste a little more of the local cuisine as we enjoy a typical dinner at the main plaza.

Day 6 - Today our morning mountain bike session will take you along unforgettable scenic trails in the National Park; truly an off-the-beaten-track experience! You will learn and develop new riding techniques and skills that will help you maximize your enjoyment and master the trails. We’ll have lunch overlooking magnificent mountain views before returning to Tacuba. In the afternoon, those who are interested can join your trip leader for an exclusive falconry tour which will allow you to experience the world of birds of prey in a way you never imagined! Tonight, a farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Tacuba.
