Carbon Offsets

Most people are shocked to find out that 30% of the world’s greenhouse gasses come from travel! Being in the travel business, this puts us in a bit of a quandary. While some might claim that the best thing to do would be spend the rest of our lives at home with a bag of chips and a tube of chapstick, we realize that this is neither realistic nor in the earth’s best interest. In our experience, people who have traveled and experienced that beauty of our planet and the different people who inhabit it often become the most committed to protecting it. At Katan Adventures, our solution is to provide free carbon offsets for all of our participant’s air and ground travel while they are with us. This includes the international flights you book to join us! Why? Carbon-offsets are certainly not perfect, but they are a way to address and offset the carbon that we expend each time we set off on a new adventure. Through our partner Terrapass, each metric ton of carbon that is released into the atmosphere when you travel with us will be purchased and then invested in projects that remove carbon from our atmosphere.
